Woo! DarkLife gets newsletter mention!

We got a nice mention in the latest Second Life newsletter, the Second Opinion. That’s pretty nice to see! In other news Mark is about happy with the code so we can start finishing off Navora sim and launch the game officially-properly.

The Point of Blogging

I’ve been reading some suggestions that blogging is about the links, about the passing on of interesting tit-bits, news and so on. Well, frankly, I disagree. I can get all the humorous links from my sister’s emails, which are replete with silly jokes involving nuns and sex objects as well as links to pictures of funny cats and what-not.

Instead, I think I like a blog which comments on something. Talks about something. My favorite kind of blog is one where the author is almost like a mini-foreign correspondent. Their reports are longer than the odd note, full of personal voice, and buried deep within some interesting events, which they are discussing.

Speaking of which, I should update more often.

    Q. Won't the book get out of date?
    A. No, O'Reilly ebook owners get updates for free for life as the game changes and I edit the manuscript. Others can register their book at O'Reilly.com for $5.

    Q. Does Toady, the designer, approve?
    A. It was Toady who suggested O'Reilly contact me to write the book when they were looking for an author, and he wrote the foreword. He's a big fan!

    Q. Does Toady get a cut of profits? A. I am making donations to Toady each month based on my own royalties. Toady will also benefit from the donations brought by all the new players!
